Fellow rookie Tristan Thompson contributed 16 points off the bench despite suffering a left ankle sprain in the fourth quarter. Alonzo Gee finished with 14 points and Ramon Sessions added 13 for Cleveland.

 

The Heat and Cavaliers are meeting for the first of three matchups this season. In 2010-11, Miami took three of four from the Cavs.

 

"It was a big win for us. We were dead in the water in the first half because we had no answers. They were making 3s, driving and doing everything," Hollins told the team's website. "I just told the team at halftime: 'The way that we get back into the game is to attack the basket and touch them on defense. We just can't let them run around and do what they want to do. We don't play that way.' We don't quit, we fight."

 

Memphis is also 9-3 since All-Star forward Zach Randolph went down on January 1 with a torn MCL. Randolph is expected to miss six-to-eight weeks of action.

The addition of Chris Webber seems to have been a good move for the Pistons.  Since coming over from the 76ers, Webber has averaged 13.1 PPG and 7.3 RPG and the Pistons are 11-4.  Even though the defending champion Heat are currently on the playoff making cusp, they are the Eastern Conference team that is getting the most action to win it all (9-1).  The fact that Shaquille O’Neal is back in the starting lineup after missing 39 games probably has something to do with this.  No doubt, Shaq makes a difference when in the lineup as their winning six out of their last seven would indicate.
